Home Tour: Gorgeous Country French Inspired Nashville Home

This 5,000 sq ft Nashville home has it all: gorgeous views, country french inspired architecture, exposed beams,  and reclaimed pine flooring. The home was built by local Nashville home builder Castle Custom Homes and all woodworking was provided by Albany Woodworks

A. Hays Town Country French Inspiration

Built in the style of famed architect A. Hays Town, the owners wanted to embody all the quintessential Hays features. Hays was known for developing the country french style, inspired by the Creole cottages of Southern Louisiana.

One signature feature of an A. Hays Town home is heavy use of reclaimed, naturally colored woodworking along with high ceilings. The living room embodies both with exposed reclaimed pine beams, french doors opening onto a balcony and natural wood millwork. An ideal choice for living room flooring is antique heart pine flooring.

The amazing features continue into the kitchen design truly embracing A. Hays Town style. The reclaimed and recycled old building materials that Hays was renowned for gives a relaxed, graceful character to new houses with modern-day amenities.

The antique heart pine beams and rustic natural pine wood ceiling are beautifully contrasted by white cabinetry. And the ideal kitchen flooring option was chosen by using reclaimed pine wood kitchen flooring. The neutral kitchen cabinets allow the woodwork to take the stage as the focus of the kitchen, particularly drawing the eye up to the wood kitchen ceiling and old pine beams.

And as if the living room and kitchen did not offer enough of a wow factor, the dining room does not disappoint! The dining room offers two common Hays features that the other rooms did not: a wall of floor to ceiling natural wood windows and custom French style patio doors leading to the balcony.

By matching the look of the custom wood door to the windows, it creates an easy flow to the room. The natural light from the windows paired with tall wood ceilings lends to an airy atmosphere.

Exposed brick walls makes for a grand passageway in this hallway design. Exposed brick and exposed beams are the ideal pairing for the french country style. Having a consistent wood flooring throughout the floor plan creates easy transitions from room to room.
