Albany Woodworks makes its debut at the 1981 New Orleans Home and Garden Show.
Located at the historic and “ain’t there no more” Rivergate Convention Center at the foot of Canal Street, the New Orleans Home and Garden show was Albany Woodworks official entre’ into the market. The New Orleans Home and Garden Show began in 1954 and occurs annually still to this day. It now takes place in the Mercedes Benz Superdome and is the largest home and garden show in the Southeast United States.

Owner Richard says, “We worked for a 12 hour day at the mill, began building our Home Show display late into the evening, worked a full day at the mill the next day, left that evening to set up our Home Show display, we finished at 1am and showed up the next day at 9am to man the booth. It was a great show.” Having a display where customers could see and feel the wood flooring gave Albany Woodworks an advantage and helped build the reputation that they have forty years later. Albany Woodworks continued to display at the New Orleans Home and Garden show for another 20 years.
