Reclaimed wood holds value | US Lumber Shortage

For those of us stuck in the remodel or new construction phase, lumber is becoming harder to find. Can antique wood be the answer for bringing your home building project to completion?

Antique Wood holds its value in US lumber shortage

When new lumber is hard to come by as in recent months, if you can find some it won’t be cheap. Due to a lumber shortage in the US, many home owners are turning away from some of the “value” brands and instead are selecting fine antique woods. Antique woods can be sourced more readily and hold their value in a quality of manufacturing unavailable in the “big box” brands.

What does value mean? Well, when it comes to antique heart pine flooring for example, all grains and knot holes are counted for and add to the rustic quality of this wood. And best of all, it is in stock and ready to be custom milled to fill your order.

Every piece of lumber is hand-selected. Value is “where it’s at” in reclaimed wood. Download our catalog for more information.

While we hand select every beam and board, our customers appreciate the piece of mind that comes with our quality guarantee. Looking for a whole house of beautiful millwork? No problem that is our favorite type of project. Remodeling a house or a historic home? Antique heart pine and cypress are 500 and 1,000 years old respectively. Both these fine woods add charm and a touch of sophistication to our clients homes for 43 years.

What's the cost of lumber these days?

According to a recent article:

The surge in lumber prices in the past year has added $35,872 to the price of an average new single-family home and $12,966 to the market value of an average new multifamily home, according to the NAHB.

If this is true, then it is going to be awhile before prices go down again. Which will lead to savvy homeowners turning to a unlikely yet original choice. “Reclaimed lumber has adds a fair value of return on investment,” adds Richard Woods who started his reclaimed lumber business in 1976.

More and more people are looking for a unique or one-of-a-kind finishing piece to complete their home’s interior. Whether it be a rustic pine mantel or historic heart pine beams for a ceiling, you have our design team to walk you through it step-by-step.
